Accessibility statement.

This site should be usable by everyone, in plain language. Here is what we aim for, and how to reach Steve if anything gets in your way.

Plain language

This page explains how SteveLockhartRealtor.com approaches accessibility. In short: this site is built so that people of all abilities, including those using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or text magnification, can read, understand, and use it. We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA, and we keep improving. If you hit a problem, Steve wants to know, and the fastest way to get help is at the bottom of this page.

Our commitment

Accessibility is part of the service

A real estate decision should never be harder to make because the website is hard to use. The same care that goes into The Lockhart Method, clear options and clear steps, goes into how this site is built and how requests are handled. We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time checklist.

Standards we aim for

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA, working toward 2.2
  • Keyboard operable, with visible focus
  • Compatible with common screen readers and magnifiers
  • Responsive at phone, tablet, and desktop sizes

Perceivable

Text meets WCAG AA contrast targets, images carry descriptive alt text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.

Operable

Everything is reachable and usable with a keyboard, focus is always visible, and menus and drawers close with the Escape key.

Understandable

Pages keep one clear H1 with logical heading order, plain language, and forms with visible labels and clear success or error messages.

Robust

Semantic landmarks, labeled form fields, and live status regions help screen readers and other assistive tools.

How we build it in

What you should be able to count on

  • A skip-to-content link at the start of every page
  • A single clear heading level structure on every page
  • Meaningful alt text on every informative image
  • Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation
  • WCAG AA contrast for all body and heading text
  • Respect for reduced-motion preferences
  • Labels and autocomplete on every form field
  • Text-based, announced success and error messages on every form
  • Responsive layouts that work at phone, tablet, and desktop widths

Known limitations

We are honest about what we do not fully control:

  • Embedded third-party tools, such as the MLS property search and the external scheduling page, are provided by outside services. Their accessibility is controlled by those providers, and we cannot guarantee their behavior.
  • Some older or unsupported browsers may not display every visual effect; content remains readable in plain HTML.

Third-party content

Where this site links out to trusted partners for scheduling, financing, or other services, those providers are responsible for their own accessibility. If one of those tools is hard to use, tell us, and we will help you get the information another way.
